UK Lotto To Discontinue Lotto Plus 5 in Upcoming Changes

The changes to the UK Lotto announced yesterday are not only affecting the main lotto prizes and the ticket price, but are also extending to the side games offered by the National Lottery. The Lotto Plus 5 is a game played on each day the main UK Lotto is not drawn, which can see players pay an additional price to get a “second chance” at winning a jackpot. However, the UK Lotto today confirmed that the Lotto Plus 5 is being replaced by the new Lotto Raffle, which will see 50 players on each draw win £20,000.
For those of you not familiar with the Lotto Plus 5, it has five prize tiers just like the UK Lotto game, but as it is drawn on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday the prizes are for a reduced amount of money. Instead of the jackpot being in the millions, there are instead set prizes, with the top tier offering £250,000. The Match 5 and the Bonus prize tier offers £25,000, followed by Match 5 offering £250.00, Match 4 £25.00 and the Match 3 £2.50.
However, as the game still relies on matching 6 out of 49 lottery numbers, there is no guarantee that the jackpot on the Lotto Plus 5 will be won, as often weeks can pass without there being a top prize winner. With the Lotto Raffle, 50 prizes will be guaranteed for each draw, which means there will be an extra 50 guaranteed prizes on each draw date.
The new UK Lotto changes are not pleasing everyone however, with many players unhappy about the increased ticket price (which is doubling) and the reduction of the Match 5
